The Importance of Detail in Our Books

Rocky Books is all in the details.

People ask us how we make our Books trauma informed. The boring truth is that we painstakingly plan and review every word that goes into our stories, every visual that goes into our illustrations, and the appropriateness or possible effects of our coping exercises.

On every page we include details that the children looking at our Books can understand, relate to, and feel seen by.

These can be physical effects of anxiety, sadness, and anger. Feelings of helplessness can manifest as tight fists or fidgety feet.

We also include visuals of families coming together, friends listening, and communities supporting.
